Year 4’s Insight into Inventions!

26 oktober 2017

On Wednesday 25 October, Year 4 had a very exciting visit linked to their ‘Inventions’ topic which has just been studied.

  • Year 4 Car Museum

We visited the Shanghai Auto Museum, with its hundreds of car models, ranging from the very first cars ever made to modern and future cars which have not yet been invented. For many children, the highlight was seeing Ferraris or a Formula One car!

It must be said however, that the most enthralling part of the day was the specially arranged visit to the SAIC Volkswagen car plant in Anting. Not only did the children receive a special presentation from Gaby’s dad about how cars are made at his factory, we then had a tour of the factory (on electric cars!) which showed us hundreds of different cars in their various stages of production. Did you know that the Volkswagen factory is the size of 54 football pitches combined? This fact was just one of many which blew the children’s minds!
