It has been an exciting and fulfilling four years, longer than I expected to stay, and that of course was because of this great school. What a wonderful environment, where exciting learning is evident, and which will become even more impressive next year when the Da Vinci Centre is completed. This will be a wonderful space – a further opportunity for creativity and excellence to take place as part of the everyday curriculum.
But what makes this school great, of course, are the people. We have a committed staff who work hard and want the best for the children. Teachers here know children as individuals and ensure that they are settled, happy and ready to learn. Then they expertly personalise each learning journey to ensure that the children progress. Our staff really care that the children do well and build confidence in themselves as learners. It has been a pleasure to lead such a talented and committed group.
Our parents also contribute to the school’s success; and are our greatest advocates. They work with us, understand our philosophy and value our care and education of their children. They show understanding that sometimes we can’t always meet their every wish in the school setting. However, they trust our professionalism and we work in successful partnership as we are united in the common purpose; delivering the best education we can provide for their children. My thanks goes to them too.
But last but not least of course are the children! They are such a joy - always so friendly, so motivated and such fun! It has been an absolute pleasure being part of their lives and watching so many of them grow and develop over the years. I will remember them all!
The warm community that surrounds BISS is really quite exceptional and one that is felt by us all, whatever our nationality. Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of the school and of me personally over the last few years. I will miss you and, whether you are staying or leaving the school like me, wish you all the very best for the future. Good luck to you all!
