Week Beginning 22 June 2015

Thank you to everyone who organised and helped out with the Year 4 &5 disco and the Year 4 end of year party. The children had a fantastic time. It was a lovely way to finish the year and reward the children for their hard work.

Literacy

This week the children will finalise their plays adapted from their adventure stories. The children will get the chance to share their work and read each other’s playscripts. They will then try out their final work by, directing, rehearsing and performing their master pieces!

Maths

The children will be making maths games this week. The aim will be to create a game to help develop an area of maths that they have chosen. This will give the children a chance to consolidate what they have learnt this year and apply their maths knowledge in a creative way. They will get to try out and review each other’s games in the final part of the week.

Themed Learning

This week the children will be looking at undiscovered tribes. We will discuss and debate our thoughts on communicating with tribes living in isolation and the ethics related to this. The children will then experience and follow through with their ideas by observing some unknown teachers working over in the secondary building.

PHSCE

The children will be learning how to make positive choices. They will be working in small groups to complete a number of challenges that test their ability to work effectively in a team.

Vocabulary

Literacy – narration, stage direction, character, setting.

Maths – solve, calculate, sum, difference, multiply, divide, subtract.

Mandarin Y4 Panda/Monkey/Horse/MNDCN

Mandarin related the end of year activities.

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Samsom

We will finish this year with telling each other our tummy tales and reviewing all the words we have learned in the past few weeks. I wish the students every success in their language learning next year. Well done for all your hard work!

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Sutton

Next week we will be continuing the final part of our topic on clothes. We will be using adjectives to describe clothes and compare them. I wish all students continued success with their language learning next year. Well done for all your hard work!

Year 4 French – Miss Wood

Next week we shall finish our learning about daily life. The children will describe the tartine they made and use new vocabulary to explain how to make it.  They will be introduced to some longer texts with unfamiliar vocabulary where they will be helped to work out the meaning from the context. I wish all the students every success in their language learning next year.
