Week Beginning 26 September 2016

We are running the HSK examination on Saturday 12th November 2016. Registration is open to students, parents and friends who have an interest in taking this test. For more information, please kindly refer to the letter.


  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy at here.
  • Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a hat during the hot weather.
  • If for any reason your child is unable to take part in PE, please send a signed message in your child’s communication book.  Your child still needs to bring in their PE kit to enable them to participate as a coach, an official or to give feedback.  


In literacy this week we will looking at how we  use dictionaries. We will be learning about the alphabetical order and practising ordering words as well as writing short explanations for the meanings of different words. By the end of the week, we will have written a list of explanations for different words and then created our own class dictionary which will be in the correct order. As well as  this we will be able to use some simple class dictionaries to find the meaning of unfamiliar words.

In Maths this week the children will be exploring addition, as well as missing numbers.  They will add one-digit and two-digit numbers up to and beyond 20.  They will learn to solve additions using a variety of methods, including putting the bigger number first so that it is easier to count on, counting objects to find a total and also using a number line.

Barnaby Bear has had a wonderful time exploring landmarks in Australia Now Barnaby heads to his next destination, Spain. Across the week the children will explore different  geographical features in Spain and find the perfect hoiday to send Barnaby Bear on.

This week, the children will continue to focus on logging in with a user name and password and will pratise their skills when moving the mouse. They will also develop their MS Paint skills to create their own pictures.

Deze week beginnen we aan onze wereldreis.  We lezen het boek `8 schijfjes banaan op wereldreis`van Pieter Gaudesaboos, een verhaal over het plezier van reizen én van thuisblijven.  We vliegen naar India, Mexico en Kenia en sturen vanuit elke bestemming een postkaartje.
