Thursday 15 and Friday 16 are school holidays and we return on Monday 19 September.
- Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
- Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a hat during the hot weather.
- If for any reason your child is unable to take part in PE, please send a signed message in your child’s communication book. Your child still needs to bring in their PE kit to enable them to participate as a coach, an official or to give feedback. If your child would be swimming, they should bring their normal PE kit.
In Literacy we will be completing our unit of work on diary writing. The children will use the book Wild Child by Chris Wormell as their inspiration. Once they have become familiar with the sequence of the story they will act it out with a partner and film each other's performance. At the end of the week the children will draft their diaries and then work with their partner to peer mark their work and think of improvements for their final piece.
In Maths, the children will be learning how to solve mental maths calculations using number facts. They will review their knowledge of number bonds to 10 and 20 and then relate this knowledge to add two digit numbers to 100. They will look for easy ways to add two numbers together such as when adding 34+36 spotting that 4 and 6 make 10.
This week the children will continue their exploration into the life and work of Laslo Hudec. While finding out about his life and buildings they will learn how to make a map with symbols and grid references as they plot the buildings he designed on a map of Shanghai. Following this, the children will design a map of their own city and create their own symbols.
The children will be focusing on expressing their ideas, opinions and views with confidence.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY
This week the children will continue to learn how to log-on to a computer and how to use the use the ‘home keys’ to improve their typing speed and accuracy.
Keyboard, home row keys
While teaching the children playground games the children will discuss their emotions and learn how to recognise “good and bad” emotions.
The children will learn how to say the day and date. There will be an introduction for Chinese phonetics ( i u ü) and tones .The students is going to sing a song for saying the day and date.

Children will learn to read the characters “一～十” and to show the ten numbers with fingers.
Topic: Lesson 2. Numbers
We are going to learn numbers, students will be able to count from one to ten and be able to tell four tones.
