Week Beginning 19 March 2018


  • International Week – Week beginning 26 March. Please join us on:

Monday 26 March 8:25am in the Primary Playground as we begin our International Week with a song.

Thursday 29 March 9:00am for our International Parade, we encourage all children (and adults) to come dressed in special clothing from their home country. Our Chatterbox café will be open for refreshments during this time.

  • After consultation with staff, parents and importantly pupils we have developed a series of new polices of BISS Puxi Primary. These policies include, Assessment Reporting & Recording, Behaviour, Pastoral Care (Ethos & Values), Bullying Prevention, BISS House System and Pupil VoiceLeadership. The policies are recorded on the parent portal.


Year 2 will read the book ‘The Snail and the Whale’ and explore some of the settings in the book. They will work on expanded noun phrases to describe their settings using their senses. The children will write about what they can smell, hear, see, feel and taste and use these ideas to create a description of a setting.

This week we will learn about multiplication and division. We will work on different strategies like repeated addition, arrays, using a number line and mental methods and then find the inverse through division. The children will use the RUCSAC method (Read, Underline, Choose, Solve, Answer and Check) to solve word problems.

This week we will continue with our rainforest topic so we will look at the different plants and animals that live in a Rainforest habitat. They will explore the layers of the rainforest and identify the features of these layers. Following on from this the children will learn about predators and prey and will explore these terms further by looking at food chains.

Children will learn about E-Safety and ways to keep safe on the internet. They will look at the personal details they cannot share on the internet. Using this information, they will create a poster showing the importance of keeping safe online.

Our PSHE theme this week is COMPASSION. Children will be learning what compassion means and about mindfulness and empathy.  Children will be exploring what empathy means and in what situations we feel empathy and how we can help in those situations.

Deze week gaan we van start met ons nieuw thema `Wetenschap & Techniek` naar aanleiding van de Vlaamse Jeugdboekenmaand  `Eureka`.   We reizen met de teletijdmachine 200 miljoen jaar terug naar het tijdperk van de dinosauriërs.    Welke soorten dinosaurussen ken jij?  Wat aten dinosaurussen?  Hoe groot waren ze?  We steken onze neus in de boeken en vinden een antwoord op al onze vragen.

Tijdens de spellingsles oefenen we verkleinwoorden.
