Week Beginning 20 November 2017


  • This week (Wednesday 22nd November) we will begin sending out Comprehension homework, Active Maths homework and continue with the weekly spellings, too. The children can choose one comprehension activity and work through it with their parents, to support them.


The children will be learning the term suffixes and using suffixes -ed, -er, -ing, -est to change the spelling of root words. Children will learn that there are a variety of different suffixes and choose appropriate spelling rules to use with the correct suffix. The children will read, role play and write Traditional Tales so they will read the story of The Enormous Turnip.

The children will learn positional language to describe the position of an object. They will also learn about direction and use Bee Bots to give directions.

This week for STEAM Theme we are going to be looking at bridges. We will be looking at the structures and properties of the different bridges made around the world. We will hope to identify many famous bridges and what makes them so special. Next, we will look at applying our new-found knowledge of bridges to constructing our own!

Children are learning to create a power point presentation about themselves and their work. They will look at changing the font size, style and inserting pictures from the internet.

We will be reminding the children how to stay healthy, by the choices they make. We will also focus on hygiene and how to stay healthy by washing our hands after going to the toilet and before eating food.

De Sint is aangekomen in Shanghai!  Of toch niet?  In het boek `Sint op drift`  raakt de stoomboot  van Sinterklaas het noorden kwijt.   Sinterklaas moet zich beroepen op een ouderwets kompas en de Poolster.  Hopelijk loopt dit goed af!  Deze week maken we samenstellingen met de Sint en oefenen we hoe we een goede brief naar Sinterklaas schrijven.

In de spellingslessen leren we woorden met de `sch`.
