MESSAGES

  • To Winter Concert performers (7th December)

A letter was distributed last week to the performers involved in the upcoming Winter Concert. If for whatever reason a letter didn’t reach you, please collect a copy from either the Reception desk or by clicking on the link here.

To clarify, this should be for students who are in: Orchestra (Symphony Orchestra); Senior / Junior Strings; one of the choirs; Samba band; Jazz band. It is absolutely essential that all reply slips are handed in to either the Primary or Secondary reception by Tuesday 28th of November.

  • Friday 1st December – Year 4 Learning Showcase 9 - 10am in the Da Vinci Centre.
  • Tuesday 28th November – 4B Class Assembly, 2.40pm in Stage One.
  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
  • Monday 27th-Wednesday 29th November- Pluft Show
  • Saturday 2nd December- Christmas Fair.
  • Wednesday 13th December- Festive Frock Day and Class Parties.

LITERACY AND MATHS

This week, we will be in the Da Vinci Centre – see Themed Learning for details!

THEMED LEARNING / COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

It is our Da Vinci Centre and Parent Showcase week! The children will be using spaces in the Da Vinci Centre and the Art room to create and subsequently showcase a range of their knowledge and skills. The children will be programming a Lego Mindstorm to throw an object over ‘Hadrian’s Wall,’ and seeing if their skills would help them if they had been Roman soldiers! They will also be marching around the school in different army formations. Additionally, the children will be using the Green Screen to record news reports about the Roman invasion of Britain, and the art room to create Roman mosaics!

DUTCH

Voor de voorstelling van Tosca Menten hebben de leerlingen  fantastische  presentaties in de klas gehouden. De  leraren en de leerlingen waren goed voorbereid en allemaal erg enthousiast. De voorstellingen  van Tosca Menten voor de Nederlandse kinderen en voor de overige kinderen waren een groot succes.

De tentoonstelling over Tosca Menten staat nog even bij de Primary Reception,  iedereen kan hier het werk van de leerlingen bewonderen.

Nu zijn de leerlingen allemaal bezig met de vraag: “Waar is Sinterklaas?”. We hebben het `SDS Sinterklaasjournaal ` bekeken en we vragen ons nu allemaal af of het feest wel door kan gaan.

Er wordt hard gewerkt: er worden gedichten en brieven geschreven, er wordt aan cadeaus gewerkt en aanstaande dinsdag mogen alle leerlingen de schoen zetten.

Vrijdag komt de Sint (hopelijk) aan en vergeet je niet aan te melden voor de gezellige Sinterklaas afterparty.

This week`s homework will presenting your menu to your parents. What would they like to order in your restaurant?

Next week in class we continue our `Au restaurant` topic.   The children came up with amazing names for their restaurants such as `Manger à Paris` or `Monsieur Cochon`.    

We will start setting up our restaurants, designing place mats and creating the dishes on our menu.   We will learn how to order food and we will express our likes and dislikes.
