Week Beginning 5 March 2018

MESSAGES

  • Parent consulations will be on Tuesday 6th and Thursday 8th(please double check your appointment times).  NB Please remember there  will be no ECAs on these two days.  BISCAP and BISS Lions will continue as normal.
  • International week:  On Monday 26 March at 8.25am you are invited to join us for International Week singing in the Primary playground.  On Thursday 29 March at 9:00am the International Parade will take place in the Primary front playground. Students are invited to wear clothing that represents their cultural heritage. If you are able, please come dressed in your national costume and cheer on. Our Chatterbox coffee shop will be open for parents to enjoy a beverage or snack.
  • The Year 4 Showcase will take place 13th April at 9:00.

LITERACY

This week, we are moving onto narrative writing. We will spend the next three weeks building up a range of skills which will enable us to write exciting exploration and adventure stories which use devices such as tension and suspense. We will begin by watching a short video extract and discussing the tension within it, before attempting to record ourselves retelling the story, using suspense. Then, we will use these skills to help us to write settings for an adventure story.

MATHS

This week in maths we will continue to work on measures, looking specifically at length (mm, cm, m and km). The children will be using different pieces of equipment to measure length, convert lengths and answering length related problems .

THEMED LEARNING

In Theme next week we will be looking in more detail at particular explorers, starting with adventurer/artist Margaret Mee. We will be studying her technique and using it to draw pictures of plants and animals. We will also be looking at a colour wheel and how we can use different tones to enhance our artwork.

DUTCH

Deze week brengen we alles in voorbereiding  voor het SDS TAALstraattheater!  We schrijven onze tekst voor onze act,  ontwerpen het decor en bespreken en oefenen de verschillende gedichten

We bereiden de showcase voor door het voordragen van gedichten en het oefenen met ritme en de erbij horende emotie in de stem en gezicht.

Bij spelling starten we in een nieuw werkboek en herhalen de categorieen die moeilijk waren bij de cito.

Bij nieuwsbegrip behandelen we de nieuwe tekst met de vragen.

Next week we will start preparing for the International Week by getting to know `Astérix` and `Obélix` , two French comic heroes.  We will watch a selection of the French movie `Au service de sa majesté` and will make our own Astérix and Obélix comic. 

This week`s homework will be making a poster about these two invincible French heroes!
