Cat gained her BSc in Geography from Exeter University before completing her PGCE in Secondary Geography from Birmingham University in 2006. Cat then taught Geography and Sport at a secondary school in Buckinghamshire, where she rejuvenated the KS3 geography scheme of work to make it more relevant and interactive and established a residential fieldtrip for Year 7 students. She enjoyed working with GCSE and A-level students and helping them prepare for coursework and exams. Cat has always had an interest in the natural world and is passionate about encouraging students to discover how they can make a positive impact on the world.
Over the last 10 years Cat has lived in Switzerland, Beijing and Shanghai and with her 3 daughters all now attending school she is looking forward to working once again with secondary and IB students. While raising her family, she has maintained an interest in education and school life. In Beijing, in her role as Chairperson of the Parents’ Association, she devoted a lot of time to charity fundraising and strongly believed in involving students directly in these activities where they could see the impact of their efforts. More recently, Cat has been developing her knowledge of Sustainability and has been investigating ways to educate and engage students in activities that encourage them to be more environmentally friendly.
Cat likes visiting new places and travelling with her family. She has always loved sport; watching, playing, teaching (and now cheering on her girls!) She plays netball in Shanghai and otherwise keeps fit running around after her busy children. Cat also likes to try out new restaurants in Shanghai and spend time with friends.
