Elena Kathiraven

Business Studies and Economics Teacher, Form Tutor 11I

Ms. Elena Kathiraven is from Slovakia, Europe. After completing her A Levels, she moved to the United Kingdom where she graduated with BA (Hons) in Business Studies and Economics. Later she received her PGCE from the University of Nottingham and more recently she extended her list of qualifications with MA in International Education with the University of Sunderland.

She has been living and teaching Business Studies and Economics in International schools in Malaysia and China for the past 10 years. She has also worked as CAIE Coordinator and Exams Officer for 3 years, planning and organizing internal and external (Checkpoints, IGCSE and A Level) examinations. She taught IGCSE Global Perspectives for 3 years when her student was awarded the Cambridge Top in Malaysia award in 2015. Ms Kathiraven was in charge of the lower secondary Business Studies course development for the 12-14 years old as a preparation for the IGCSE qualification and has 2 years’ experience of teaching Geography to lower secondary students.

Ms Kathiraven’s inspiration is her students; she believes that nobody should be left behind. The focus of her teaching is on her students, their needs, their successes and achievements in life. Watching them grow and being part of their development is the most satisfying part of being a teacher. Coming to BISS and joining the family of the best educators in the world opens a great opportunity to develop herself, become a better teacher and do even more for her students.
