Teacher of English

Graduating from Southampton University with a degree in English Literature and History, I worked in London for four years before moving to Shanghai in 2006. Since then I have worked at both BISS Puxi and Dulwich College in Shanghai, where I was Head of Department for three years. I enjoy teaching English Language to ambitious young students curious about the lives of others who live in different cultures or past times people who would love to be bilingual, and Literature from around the world to.

My ambition to travel lured me away for a year and I spent time exploring Central Asia, the USA and Europe. On my return to China I am very happy to be returning to BISS Puxi. My memories of the school are of fantastic students, supportive parents and interesting colleagues. I am looking forward to meeting many of you in my new role as a teacher of English over the next two years.

In my spare time I enjoy learning – with various degrees of success – Mandarin Chinese. My ambition this year is to take an HSK, and maybe try to read a book from beginning to end. I enjoy reading and writing which is both my job and a favourite way to keep learning. I also love to play sport and look forward to surprising anybody who would like a game with my table tennis skills.
