Stephenie Mahay

Mathematics Teacher and Head of Year 8

Stephenie studied at Mathematics at The University of South Wales from 2011-2014 and then completed her PGCE in Secondary Mathematics in 2014-2015 at the University of Oxford. Whilst at university, Stephenie spent two summers working as a camp counsellor in Wisconsin, America which led her to become a teacher.

Stephenie enjoys teaching all year groups at secondary level and worked in the UK for four years as a secondary Mathematics teacher before joining BISS. She motivates her students through praise and implements this every day in the classroom. She believes knowledge will give you power, but character will give respect. This year, Stephenie is taking part in the International Award and is looking forward to exploring China with the students.

During her free time, Stephenie likes to play football and is currently playing for one of the local women's teams in Shanghai. She also enjoys travelling to new countries, exploring Shanghai and trying the variety of local foods on offer.
