PE Teacher

Cari was educated in Anglesey, North Wales, through the medium of Welsh. During her time at school she volunteered at her local club as a swimming and gymnastics coach. This keen interest in coaching young swimmers and gymnasts motivated her to attend Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2013-2016 to study Sport and Physical Education (BsC Hons). At university, Cari  performed and competed  in water polo, cheerleading and field hockey before pursuing her passion for teaching  and completing a PGCE at Loughborough University in 2017. Cari’s has a strong background working with international students after working at Whitgift Summer School, London and Camp Adventure, Germany. Her first teaching post was teaching middle school PE at an IB school in Sotogrande, Spain. Cari then moved to Hangzhou in 2018 as a founding member of the PE department at RDFZ King’s College and developed her abiliy to teach bilingual students across a range of Key Stages.

As a whole school PE teacher Cari is a motivated and enthusiastic practitioner with the teaching philosophy of inspiring students to participate in physical activity and sport for life. She believes that every child can excel and develp a love for physical activity. Cari motivates students by building a strong rapport with them, guiding them to develop their talents.

Cari has competed in many sprint triathlons and open water swimming events. She plays water polo with the Shanghai Sea Dragons team and enjoys the challenges of Crossfit! During her free time, she loves travelling; in particular, exploring China's rich culture, delicious food and beautiful nature. Cari’s favourite place is Hainan Island, where she enjoys surfing and tasting the best seafood. So far, she has visited nine provinces in China and is looking forward to the next trip!
