    Head of Secondary Music

    Laurie Reeve

    Laurie started learning the piano at the age of three and later went on to learn the violin and viola. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London and Manchester before completing a degree in Creative Music Technology at Kingston University in 2006. He enjoyed a successful career as a musician before completing a PGCE at the Institute of Education in 2014.

    Queenie Xu

    Queenie has a life-long passion for Music and has enjoyed many years performing as soloist, first and second violinist in quartets and orchestras. She started playing the violin at the age of six and studied Music at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music with violin performance as her main focus.

    Nigel de Sousa

    Head of Drama

    Nigel de Sousa

    Nigel graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London with a degree in English, Drama and Theatre Studies. He went on to study performance at Drama Studio London gaining a diploma in acting. Whilst working as an actor, he toured with many 'theatre in education' companies in the UK, working on a variety of issue-based dramas for young people. He co-founded a London based fringe theatre company which aimed to produce fresh, new and exciting theatre to the capital’s audience.

    Philip Laverick

    Music and Music Technology Teacher

    Philip Laverick

    Philip is from the north-east of England and studied Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating in 1995 with composition as his main focus. He started playing the tuba when he was eleven years old, quite by accident. Already a keyboard player, Philip then requested to learn the trumpet at school. His Music teacher immediately dismissed the idea on the sole basis that his school orchestra already had far too many trumpets and he really needed a tuba player!

    Rhian has a First Class BA Honours Degree in Design from Loughborough University. Her education and professional career to date have provided the opportunity to experience working in a range of design industries. She has worked extensively with children in both primary and secondary in both school and community contexts.

    Darrel Sherlock

    Art Teacher

    Darrel Sherlock

    Darrel gained his BA (Hons) in 3D Art and Design in 1992, at the Cardiff Institute of HE, Wales, followed by his Qualified Teachers Status at the University of Gloucester, UK. For eighteen years, Darrel ran his own business as a creative studio ceramic artist. In that time, he exhibited at galleries throughout the UK and was a visiting lecturer in ceramics at Falmouth University. He also taught throughout Years 7 to 13 across a range of Art and Design and Technology modules in a school in Oxfordshire, UK.
