I have been struck this week by the contribution older generations make to the younger generation. In relation to our school, older generations means every one of us who has now left school, be it teachers, parents or even older siblings.
People who work in education want to do the best for children, as of course do all parents. It is the effort and support from all of us that combines to help give each child the best possible education that we can.
Each morning there are over 50 members of staff out in the car parks helping to direct traffic, or at the gates welcoming the students. We all want to keep children safe and also give them a great start to their day. Equally, other staff are inside the building to help guide students and have a great first lesson whether the children are in school or online.
Parents and other family members undertake a lot of the preparation work: from uniform to water bottles to COVID tests to medical forms, it is also your help behind the scenes that gets each child into school and ready for the 2020-21 year of education.
BIS Abu Dhabi has always had a wonderful community and we are certainly seeing the very best of it during these challenging times. As we progress through each stage of the pandemic, working alongside one another to help this young generation is one of the most important things we can be doing.
Other people helped us when we were young; now it is our turn, and at a time when we can perhaps make the greatest difference to children’s futures. My deepest thanks to every member of the older generation for everything you are doing to support our students.
