Last week on Monday 20th January, our Head of Key Stage 2, Mr. Geoff Magee attended the prestigious International School Awards in London. Our school had been among the nominees in the Best Environmental Initiative category thanks to the exceptionally powerful environmental programme - ‘Eco Beasts’ – which aimed to achieve collective and sustainable change by inspiring students to create and carry out action plans to address a host of environmental challenges. The Eco Beasts initiative has been a success from the outset, and the school now employs two environmental sustainability coordinators who continue to support the expansion of the ‘Eco Beasts’ initiative to include the wider community.
ISC Research hosts the annual International School Awards to recognise and raise awareness of some of the very best initiatives in English-medium international schools around the world. This year there were over 250 eligible nominations for the awards from international schools across 40 different countries. The winners were chosen by an independent judging panel of 11 highly experienced international educators.
On top of winning the award for Best Environmental Initiative category, our school won the top accolade of the night as International School of the Year 2020. This award was earned as a result of our standout contribution to the Best Environmental Initiative category alongside the excellence we have achieved in other facets as an international school. This is a fantastic recognition of our school as a centre of excellence for international education.
I am delighted that the hard work and dedication of everyone at the school has been recognised by ISC Research through these two awards. Being named as International School of the Year is a huge achievement and a testament to our entire school community. More than anything, however, we take tremendous pride in the fact that all our students are encouraged to be global citizens and feel empowered to make meaningful change in their community and the world.
