The term three challenge, entitled Building Curiosity is all about design and engineering. It was all launched in Monday’s assembly with another enthralling challenge video sent from MIT featuring it’s very own professors and students. It detailed the three aspects of this challenge: The Speed Build, The Redesign and The Parking Spot Challenge.
The first aspect, The Speed Build, saw 36 children from Year 1 – Year 6 take part in a timed challenge to create a solution for food wastage and raise awareness of recycling, a problem voted for and selected by the students here at BSB Sanlitun. The children had two hours to plan, design and create their own solutions to these problems in their houses with children from throughout the school. They did a fantastic job working with speed and accuracy, problem solving skills and above all else, collaborating. It was great to see the innovative ideas of the younger children alongside the support and guidance of our older students. A winning combination!
These 4 final designs will be sent to classes throughout the school to be assessed and evaluated and it will be over to them to redesign an even better version! We look forward to seeing what the children will come up with.
As for the Parking Challenge, watch the photos…
