Rebound Jumping into Gymnastics with Year 2

This week the Year 2 children have been practicing the ‘Key Steps’ Body management gymnastics routine. They loved trying all the different moves and enjoyed putting all the moves together in the correct order. We follow the ‘Key Steps’ format which is the British Gymnastics school competitions pathway for children. The body management unit focuses on strength, focus and flexibility. It was great to see the children having fun trying each new move!

Gymnastics helps build self-morale, determination, and better communication skills. Participating in gymnastics from a young age is important. It targets all muscle groups for total-body strength and flexibility. In our gymnastics lessons, the children have been collaborating in pairs to assess, help and encourage each other to perform to their best ability. So far, they have learned the rebound jumps, tucked dish, back support, straddle sit, arch and front support. We are all excited to continue our gymnastics body management journey and complete the full 9-step routine!
