I began my teaching career in 2012 volunteering at a small school in Brighton. This provided me with invaluable experience and paved the way to completing my PGCE at the University of Brighton. After I graduated I worked in a two form entry school in Eastbourne as a Year 2 class teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school, however an opportunity was presented that would allow me to combine my passion for teaching, with my passion for travel.
Most recently I have been the Year 2 Leader at a British school in Qatar. This has allowed me the opportunity to work with staff and children from around the globe. It has given me the experience of working with children from many different cultural backgrounds and for many English has been their second, or in some cases their third or fourth language. It is really humbling to see how children adapt to different ways of life and embrace new languages whilst trying to study. Moving to The British School of Beijing, Sanlitun will allow me to continue to develop professionally and immerse myself in a new culture.
Outside of work I love to travel. I have been fortunate enough to have lived in a number of different countries, most recently Qatar. Living in the Middle East has enabled me to explore more of the surrounding areas and experience different cultures. I like to keep active, but can also be found curled up with a book. When back in the U.K. I enjoy being able to go and watch Brighton and Hove Albion play with my Dad.
