Our aim in Physical Education is to introduce students to a wide variety of sports and activities with the hope that they leave BISB recognizing the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle after developing a love for physical activity. There is a particular focus on developing fitness, communication, collaboration and progression through hard work with leadership opportunities, various sports-related fixtures and inter-house competitions being offered throughout the school year. Students have the chance to develop further through extracurricular activities and are encouraged to join clubs offered through BISB during each term. The department realizes the huge impact that sport can play in a child’s life and we relish the chance to inspire and motivate children throughout the school.
In the Early Years Program, physical activity plays a vital part in the development of a child. The children focus on developing basic movement skills with participation and enjoyment being key. Foundation Stage children are taught the basics of movement using a variety of skills through fun, inclusive and active games. The emphasis is placed on the ABCs (Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed) as children progress through the Lower Primary and Upper Primary School. Students are exposed to a huge variety of sporting activities, which help them to develop an array of different skills with fitness for life being a focus in every topic.
Engagement, fun, and maximum activity is crucial in Middle & High School as the department focuses on nurturing the passion for sport and physical activity. The curriculum that BISB offers is a broad and balanced range of activities to develop the all-round P.E. student. Fitness for life, leadership, sportsmanship and hard work are emphasized throughout each lesson. Children are able to implement these fully during regular inter-house and inter-school competitions. The IGCSE P.E. course allows children to constantly strive for personal development in four different sports throughout the two year course.
We believe that every student has the ability to achieve and can find an activity which they enjoy. The department is fully focused on making sure that all students enjoy sport and value the importance of living a healthy active lifestyle.

Our annual Sports Day event, held for students from Toddlers through High School, encourages students to try athletic activities they may not have tried otherwise. During Sports Day, students work together in their School Houses in a series of athletic competitions to earn House points, building camaraderie between students of varying ages and encouraging the enjoyment of an active lifestyle.
