Danielle Richards

Pre-School Teacher

After graduating from the University of Wales, Newport in 2004, I immediately entered the world of teaching.  I have been very lucky to experience teaching in all age groups and ranges but feel that I relish the experiences that come with the younger age groups.

I taught for many years in a Nursery classroom in Cwmbran, Wales where I also worked with the local government to assist with the introduction of the Foundation Stage.  Our classroom was involved in a small pilot scheme that gave feedback and offered ideas for change within the new curriculum.  This was a great experience for me both personally and professionally.

In 2010 I decided to move to the United States primarily working with soccer clubs and their players.  I liaised with soccer clubs to help improve their curriculums and also offered soccer coaching courses through the NSCAA. After two years I realized that I missed teaching and decided to make the move back into what I love. A very dear friend of mine recommended the British International School of Boston for its great staff and dedication to children.  I am very lucky to be a part of something so forward thinking and dynamic in its approach to teaching and learning.

I enjoy soccer, both playing and coaching.  I played at a high level when I was younger and I have been a successful coach in the United States with a U’14 and U’15 team based out of Rhode Island.  I like to explore the nearby areas for skiing in the winter and the beaches in the summer. All of my family live back in Wales and enjoy going back to see them or having them come visit me.

what makes BISB unique?

The British School of Boston has a dynamic, forward-thinking approach to teaching and learning that encompasses and enriches the international background off all the students.  The school embraces its many cultures and celebrates them as often as possible.  It is a pleasure to work with such dedicated and motivated staff on a daily basis.
