British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park offers a great start point for our youngest children’s learning and education through the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS, Birth to 5 years of age) and the British National Curriculum Key Stage One (5 to 7 years of age) combined with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). From their very earliest days children are experiencing learning opportunities, which challenge their critical thinking skills, the real how and why things happen questions. They are encouraged to be independent thinkers and to be creative in their problem solving ideas.
Each day, we inspire children to be resourceful and resilient when engaging in their learning and also outside the classroom. The flexibility and inventiveness our curricula enables us as skilled practitioners to explore the children’s thoughts and ideas alongside learning and lessons. Students start to learn early reading, writing and math skills in nursery, and we build on this foundation throughout Early Years and Key Stage One. As such, the success of this is demonstrated in the knowledge, skills, and understanding children demonstrate when they reach Year Two.
The teaching teams work really closely together in order to provide children with increasing challenges and opportunities to grow and flourish from the minute they join BISC Lincoln Park to the minute they leave. Our EYFS and KS1 children delight in their successes and are intrinsically motivated to continue in their journey of learning.
