This week the Years 5-6 Primary basketball team took to the court for their very first competitive match of the season. Battling against Near North Montessori School (NNMS), we looked to develop game experience and confidence to prepare for the forthcoming season. The Bulldogs got off to a slow start as the NNMS side pounded the offensive boards for some easy baskets. Even though we lacked in size compared with NNMS, we stretched the floor allowing the point guard and team captain Mikey to find the bottom of the net from beyond the three-point line. We showed a fighting spirit and despite most players having little game experience, the team looked comfortable on court rarely turned over the ball. In the end, the NNMS team was too big and strong for our Bulldogs, as they continued to rebound second- and third-chance balls. NNMS took a slender win, but we have a lot to be proud of!
