This week in Year 1 we have been learning all about measures! We have learned that there are different types of measures including length, weight and capacity.
On Monday we received an urgent message of help from our good friend Lightning McQueen. He needed our help to design a new garage for him. His instructions were very detailed; they told us the exact lengths of the things it would need to store, so we had to follow these when we measured the garage.
Then, earlier this week, we received a delivery from Lightning, hundreds of containers! We were not sure what to do with them and what they were for, so we took the time to explore. We later found out they were measuring jugs and cylinders and we needed to see which were more or less than a liter so Lightning could keep his gas in them.
Currently we are working on a top secret mission to help Lightning get even faster; we are designing a new type of gas for him by measuring different ingredients accurately in ml and mixing them together.
In Year 2 this week we have been script writers and set designers! We have written our own play scripts based on Roald Dahl’s The Twits and created sets featured in the book using shoe boxes and other materials. We had to use lots of problem solving skills to make sure we had all the right characters and props for each scene. We have been doing lots of rehearsing to make sure we are ready to film our versions of this famous story!
The Marvelous Mustangs created their own shoebox settings for their play about The Twits. They created their own lollipop stick puppets and have written their own play scripts in groups to help them perform their puppet show plays. We are super excited to begin performing our plays tomorrow!
