Dr. Yulia Lipmanovich

Yulia Lipmanovich

I believe it is my role as an educator to facilitate and motivate each student in finding a successful and fluid piano technique, exploring their individual creative abilities and performance skills while also developing the fundamental understanding and mastery of each composition learned and performed.

I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from The Juilliard School, where I studied with Madame Rosina Lhevinne on a full scholarship. I received a master's degree from the Rubin Academy of Music of the Tel Aviv University, where I studied with Professor Arie Vardi on a full scholarship. I studied with Ian Hobson on a full scholarship at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and was awarded a doctorate degree in piano performance in 1998. Among my teachers were Anthony di Bonaventura and Rudolfo Caporally.

I am an experienced teacher, which I believe enables me to successfully introduce young performers of any level and age to the beautiful world of music. Many of my students have become outstanding performers and teachers, and have been accepted into such prestigious music programs as the Juilliard School of Music, the Paris Conservatory of Music and the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

My piano training with some of the world's greatest teachers (including Tatiana Nickolayeva, Rosina Lhevinne, Arie Vardi, Ian Hobson and Anthony di Bonaventura) has given me a sound technical and musical foundation, which I impart to each student. My teaching methods guides each student through a methodical and successful path in the musical learning process from developing musical and technical skills while providing my pupils with the important tools needed to develop focus in personal practice time and performance. I believe that music nourishes the soul and that the concepts necessary in learning to play the piano well are easy for any student when a sound approach to playing the instrument is implemented at the earliest learning stages.

As a concert pianist I have performed in major concert halls as soloist and with orchestras and chamber groups throughout Russia, Israel and in such prestigious venues in the United States such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall. I recently performed at the Fazioli concert series broadcast on WFMT and Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago, and two CDs from this performances were released. I am developing a music program at Walder Educational Center in Chicago. I have taught on the piano faculties of the Boston Conservatory, Boston College, Northeastern University and the Rubin Conservatory of Music in Jerusalem.
