Breaking the traditions of pilgrims, my journey started when I graduated in Canterbury Cathedral from Canterbury Christchurch University with a bachelor of arts degree in English literature with media and cultural studies. It is here that I entered the teaching profession as I joined the postgraduate certificate in edcuation teacher training in 2009. From here I continued my love of learning and educational journey into the teaching profession, returning to my old Secondary School in the depths of the rolling Kent countryside, as an English and Media teacher. After two years I found my true passion within education: student leadership.
BISC offers a unique learning environment that challenges students to achieve their goals, both inside and outside of the classroom. By combining active learning techniques alongside independent study, students develop a range of skills that allow them to express themselves in a mature, academic manner. The learning environment at BISC compliments the passion that our staff and students have for learning and their commitment to success. The autonomy that our students have of their own learning makes any learning environment a mature one; even at a young age our students are responsible for their own learning. By instilling these values within our students, it creates mature young learners that go on to achieve great things in both their educational and personal lives
The staff here at BISC is dedicated to our students progression and offers them real-life context through excursions and trips that further consolidates their academic knowledge, but also enhances their global awareness that surpasses the classroom. The plethora of subjects and expertise that are students have available to them is unparalleled to any other school that I have worked in, and the sense of community and pride that both the staff and students have in the school makes it a fantastic place to work.
In my spare time I love cooking and baking; feeding my friends and family makes me incredibly happy. To counteract my love of food I enjoy an active lifestyle and the great outdoors. Walking, cycling and running are all a great way for me to unwind, but, for me the ultimate form of escapism is reading; I love immersing myself in all literature from Victorian novels to home styling magazines.
