Calvin Lee

Calvin Lee

Mandarin Specialist

When I came across the job advertisement for my post at British International School of Chicago, I decided to apply without much hesitation. The opportunity sounded really exciting to me, as I have always wanted the experience of living and working in America. The school also has an excellent reputation and a true international feel, so I feel that it is the perfect environment for me to put my expertise into use and to continue to develop professionally.

I am originally from Hong Kong and lived in the UK with my family for over a decade. I studied teaching English as a foreign language at University of Essex before moving to London to study my postgraduate certificate of education (PGCE) in Secondary Mandarin. After my PGCE, I worked as a Mandarin Teacher at Millfield School in Somerset, one of England’s largest independent schools.

I enjoy various things in my spare time. Traveling is one of my greatest passions. I really enjoy exploring different places and experiencing new cultures. Consequently, I have been to various cities in Britain, as well as the rest of Europe and Asia. I also have a strong interest in art, so I love visiting art galleries and museums.

What Students Say
