James Farquhar

James Farquhar

French & German Specialist

I started work at the age of 16 at Eden Court Theatre in Inverness. After five years I decided to move to London. I took a job as a sound engineer and was part of a small team that won Best New Musical for Blood Brothers at the prestigious Laurence Olivier Awards.

After 20 years in show business I went back into formal education, gaining a place at the University of Stirling, where I attained a first class honors degree. Having recently traveled across the United States following parts of the famous Route 66, I fell in love with the culture and the way of life in America and am excited about teaching here.

I am sporty type of a person and enjoy football, tennis and squash. In addition to this I was a football referee in the UK, and I enjoy passing on the Laws of the Game to anyone who will listen! I enjoy Charles Dickens’ novels and watching movies.
