While studying Creative Writing and English Literature at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, I nurtured my passion for working with children at a nearby school. I was a Pre-K classroom assistant at Yonkers PS 30 for three years—my primary role was to co-lead lesson plans, engage children in problem solving games, and direct small and large-scale art projects. Additionally, I tutored middle schoolers in reading comprehension and math. Being exposed to a range of age groups across different communities has exemplified how eager to grow young people are. It is such a rich experience and I am eager to continue at BISC-SL!
BISC-SL nourishes the Socratic method and invites all members of the community to learn from one another. By promoting critical thinking, active dialogue, and social emotional growth, BISC-SL succeeds in fostering a positive learning environment for teachers and students and I truly believe we learn from our students as much as they learn from us! I am thrilled to be part of a school that is so diverse and innovative.
