Rosie Cadman Beaumont

Head of English | English Specialist

I’m excited to be part of British International School of Chicago, South Loop and its dynamic and talented team of staff.

Having graduated with a joint honors degree in English Literature and French from the University of Birmingham, I spent a year traveling South America and Canada before returning to study for a master’s degree in English Literature at University of Leeds. An avid reader and library enthusiast, it was here that I furthered my passion for study and spent many months happily devouring a range of postcolonial texts before deciding to train as an English teacher.

I have since enjoyed working at several schools in London and continue to enjoy encouraging students to discover their own interest in literature. Previously, I was Head of English Literature at Brampton Manor Academy. I particularly enjoyed participating in enrichment activities, from theatre excursions and workshops to coaching students for the Bar Mock Trial national competition.

In my spare time, I try to squeeze in as many travel opportunities as possible and have spent my most recent summers traveling to Southeast Asia. I have also developed links with a school in rural Uganda and have previously arranged for a group of teachers to visit and work within the school during the academic holidays - an incredible experience and connection that I hope to maintain in the future. When I’m not packing my backpack and preparing for a new adventure, I can most often be found baking, running or reading in a quiet corner.
