I attended the University of Warwick to study engineering and graduated with a master's degree in engineering. After working for a year, I attended the University of Sheffield and gained a post graduate certificate in education in mathematics. After graduating I worked as a mathematics teacher in South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.
Before I came to America, I lived in England on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Growing up I enjoyed rock climbing, running and mountain biking on the many trails in the park. I ran in a few distance races, cycled from coast to coast across England for charity and I was also on the university crew team, racing in many events including the Henley Regatta. In Chicago, I enjoy running along the many park and lakefront trails and cycling has now become my mode of transport for commuting. I have played for the recreational soccer team, Belmont FC, for the past seven years and have enjoyed the few highs and many lows we have experienced as a team. Not many people know that I also play the guitar, and I have achieved a grade five with merit on examinations.
The students at our school are fantastic. They are all motivated to achieve as well as they can, whilst also getting involved in the many extracurricular opportunities provided by the school. The main difference between this school and other schools I’ve worked in is the enthusiasm of the teaching staff, along with the whole school focus on individual student learning and the experience of the students. The teachers and leaders work as a team to ensure all students progress in their learning.
