Emma Blakemore

British International School of Chicago, South Loop | Private School Chicago

Geography Specialist

The dynamic environment that working with young people provides is what excites me as a teacher and makes me look forward to coming to school each day. I'm thrilled to join British International School of Chicago, South Loop, where the community of students, staff and parents is second to none.

I received a bachelor's degree in Geography at the University of Birmingham and then went on to complete my Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of Oxford. During my career, as Head of Geography and Head of a Year Group, I have been fortunate enough to gain experience in both academic and pastoral aspects of teaching.

I love to sing (much to my students’ amusement/embarrassment!), so I apologize now if you hear me around the hallways or in my classroom! I am also a keen skier, both recreationally and professionally, having raced for my University team. In my free time I like to play netball, go running, cycling, or to a yoga class – but I’m the kind of person who will basically try everything and anything!
