Fujian Trip Year 6 & 7 - Updates 29 October 2019

Another day amongst the Tulous for the year 6's and 7's. We all woke up together this morning and while we were downstairs we talked about communal eating; how to leave food on the table for others to enjoy and how to share packets of chocolate milk mix (yes they got chocolate milk mix for breakfast!)

As planned we switched groups. One half started the biking journey which was explained last night, the other half started off with an interview challenge. Students in groups had to explore the Hongkeng Tulou cluster and interview the people who lived there in the Tulous. Some rejected us but many were nice enough to answer a few questions and send us on our way. Of course we were quite the spectacle!

Then we hopped on the bus further into the mountains and arrived at Chuxi, another cluster of Tulous. We are staying in a round one that is 280 years old! Here we had a wonderful lunch prepared for us by our hosts the Xu family.

After lunch we played some interactive story telling games to prime us for the drama performances later and then set off on our hike through the mountains. Beautiful scenery, delicious passion fruit and a few loud geese were some of the highlights! At the top of a viewing point we started rehearsing our dramas.

We met up with the bikers back at our Tulou and had a nice dinner together. After dinner we showed our dramas and reflected upon the highlights of the day.

On the biking front we had an excellent day. A few falls but no major injuries and many smiling faces. Congrats to all those who couldn't ride a bike a few weeks ago and made it through a day of tough biking today. Absolutely amazing!

Tomorrow we look forward to a day on a tea farm!
