Tanzania Trip Updates- 29 October 2019

BSN students were up early to start their two day safari to Tarangire National Park on an overland truck called “Sarah.” Our guide was John and we were all amazed at how extensive his knowledge of the Tanzanian fauna and flora was. Zebras, Lions, Ostriches, Impala and so many more animals were seen on this first day.

We stayed overnight in the park! A real highlight was seeing the stars as we sat around a campfire enjoying the peace and quiet of the night under a baobab tree. The following morning was an even earlier start with a wake up alarm at 5am by John singing “In The Jungle.” A sunrise safari was followed by a chance to shop at local the local souvenir shops run by the Chaga tribe. After buying masks, fabrics, wood carvings we headed to Shanga which is a project designed to integrate disabled people into society and provide work for them.

The last part of our trip is working on Kiwawa Secondary School and we have managed to put up 4 layers of brick in just one day. Students visited the completed Seeway school and saw for themselves the fruits of last years BSN student’s work being used and benefitting the local community.
