Message from Principal

This month has seen lists playing an important part in the life of the school. However, despite December’s rapid approach, it wasn’t my Christmas list but the various lists on which The British School of Nanjing appeared prominently.

Amongst those lists was The MangaHigh “Halloween Maths Quest” where we finished 7th across the Asia region. For a competition entered by many, many schools across Asia, this was a fantastic result. You can read more about our MangaHigh week here.

The Global Campus website also includes a list where our school is currently ranked 9th across our family of schools around the world for our contributions and achievements. With students throughout the school seizing the opportunity to engage with the challenges, it’s being great to see their efforts rewarded and with 66% of our students having visited Global Campus, making over 30,000 posts – far more than any other school in the region! You can read more about Global Campus here.

Our A-level and IGCSE certificates arrived this week and our students collected them in our monthly awards ceremony in our theatre. This was another list of which I was particularly proud, with BSN sitting at the top of the A-level table. With schools from Guangzhou to Kuala Lumpur entering students for A-levels, to finish in 1st place across Nord Anglia Education, with 100% A* and A grades is a remarkable achievement and testament to the great work done in class. You can read more about our excellent academic results here.

One of four students to be awarded A-levels last school year was Shyun. Shyun is now studying electrical engineering at the prestigious Hong Kong University (HKU); itself ranked 35th in the world by the Times Higher Education. You can read more about Shyun’s achievement here.

However, whilst these numbers are great, it is the faces and names behind these figures that mean something. The students whose work pushed us up the MangaHigh score board, onto the Global Campus top ten, or earnt them the grades they deserved – these are the success stories of which we are so proud and which we believe truly makes BSN one of a kind.
