Two BSN Teachers touch the finish line at Nanjing Qinhuai City Wall Marathon

Be it gratifying or gruelling, unexpectedly humorous or inspirational and life altering, running a marathon will forever be imprinted into our mind.

It is the morning of Sunday 6th December, Ms Molly and Mr Allen had one goal in mind: Completing the Nanjing Qinhuai City Wall Marathon. We were part of the 2000 runners to experience the unique scenery of the Qinhuai River and we also experienced the passion and happiness of running on the ancient city wall.

At 7.30 am, the start gun goes off, excitement fills the air, and the runners take off! As we paced ourselves around the track, we were surrounded by a beautiful sunrise and breathtaking views of our wonderful city. We knew it would be challenging and we would be pushing our bodies to the limit. We witnessed the huge amount of support among the other runners, the volunteers and the crowds who braved the winter cold to offer words of encouragement 加油 jiāyóu.

We knew the end was near, soreness and tiredness transformed into delight and exhilaration, which gave us that extra little spark to cross the finish line. 1 hour and 46 minutes later, WE DID IT! As we collected our finishers medals, we were filled with a sense of pride, knowing that we just achieved something magical.

It was truly special to be a part of this wonderful event and thank you to the organisers and all the unsung heroes for their support and dedication to ensure the safety of every runner.

Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

Mr Allen and Ms Molly
