Dear Parents,

This week has seen a special focus on music as we had our Curriculum Specialist musician Jessica Meyer in school.  She taught the Year 3B class and observed music lessons during the morning. Jessica will visit Rayyan Campus every term and different groups of children will benefit from her expertise. Last year we held parents workshops and she led workshops with groups of children based on rhythm and percussion. Our music curriculum in school includes the special programme written by Juilliard for primary schools so the children have access to the best music teaching and learning in the world. We look forward to welcoming more parents into school next term to participate in a workshop.

Our whole school choir competed in the Qatar National Music Competition at Katara last week. Twenty one children from Rayyan Campus attended rehearsals and sang their heart out during the competition. They came in third place and had a very enjoyable experience. Many thanks to Mrs Lerche for leading the rehearsals and organising our children for the competition. We are very proud of them. The choir members were:-

Year 3: Elise Davies, Patricia Vazquez, Blanca Alvarez, Mariana Jimenez, Jacob Lukjaniec

Year 4: Rayan Tarrouche, Natasha Cullen, Maya Robb, Hanna Zaworski

Year 5: Milagros Avellanal, Marie Grigas, Rodela Rahman, Haya Mousa, Yara Alkhateeb,

Roudha Al-Hajaji, Liam Aguda, Emaan Khurram

Year 6: Dariusz Davida, Yara Abdalla, Asmeh Ahmad, Ethan Aguda

Last Thursday evening, over 200 parents and children attended Movie Night at Rayyan Campus. The children loved meeting their friends, munching on popcorn and watching ‘Sing’. Thank you to our Friends of Compass School members for organising the evening and working together to create enjoyable activities for our community. This week tickets for the Family Beach Day at the Al Sharq Village and Spa will go on sale. This is an opportunity for families to enjoy a day at the pool or beach, while children enjoy the organised activities and come together for lunch. Watch out for more details on a separate notice.

Year 3C started the class assembly series with a roar when they presented their learning on dinosaurs. Our avid explorers shared facts and their scientific knowledge to teach us about carnivores, herbivores and the Mesolithic era. The singing and dinosaur rap were a lovely way to start the morning. Thank you to Miss Reid, Miss Denise and the children for such an interesting and entertaining assembly.

Parent teacher Consultations take place this evening. If you do not have an appointment, please contact the Class Teacher. It is important that you meet the teacher to find out how well your child is performing, their progress and the next steps for improvement.

School Holiday-Please note that school will be closed next week for half term holiday and classes will resume on Sunday 5th November.

Kind regards,

Ann Djedid
