During last week’s Primary assembly, we introduced the ‘Respect Agenda’ to the students. This is a set of values and school rules created by our student council here at Madinat Khalifa.
These posters are visible in every classroom in the school, and our teachers and students are using them as a frame of reference when discussing the positive expectations we have for all members of the school community.
This week we have been focussing on the first rule:
We keep our school clean, tidy and litter-free.
Primary students were set the challenge of upholding this rule, particularly during our break-times where litter has been an issue. By sharing the effort and responsibility, this has led to a huge improvement and the students are very proud of the fact that we have no litter on the playground at the end of break. I look forward to this continuing throughout the school year, and next week we will have focus on the second rule:
We look after our books, lockers and all school property.
I would encourage you to ask you children how they and their classmates, plan to ensure this target is met by the whole school.
This is yet another great example of student leadership in action; where they have identified issues and created solutions to address these.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Head of Primary
