We are enjoying the last few weeks of learning in the build-up to the summer holidays. Please, may I take this opportunity to emphasise that lessons are on as usual and will be right up to the last minute of the last day (which will be 12 noon on Thursday, 28 June).
As a school, we are evaluating our priorities for next year. We have identified attendance and punctuality and assessment and feedback as areas we would like to focus on. If you have any feedback on these, please feel free to pop in and chat with me about them. Subject Leaders are producing topic overviews of a week-by-week what the students in Secondary are learning in a parent and student friendly version. It is our expectation that we will share these with you the first week of Term 1. This enabled those conversations at home of "What have you learned today?" to go beyond "I can't remember". I have also asked Subject Leaders to include resources that will stretch the students further during independent work at home.
My other priority is to get parents involved more in school and develop our Friends of Compass School (FCS) which is our Parent Teacher organisation. I will be looking for new recruits from the parent body to volunteer for this and help build the school events like Spring Fete even more. Please speak to me if you would like to be part of this group.
We will have a busier week for the week of 10 June, as we welcome the Year 6 students to the Secondary School and we will have the Year 11 graduation on Tuesday. The excitement of both ends of the spectrum – one at joining, and the other at leaving. Though the majority of the Year 11 will be coming back to study the IB Diploma Programme with us in August 2018.
