On Sunday the school hosted a Secondary Showcase, welcoming back two of our students who spoke about their life in secondary education.  Science experiments were then conducted to the absolute delight of our Year 5 and Year 6 students.  On Wednesday evening, our students had the opportunity to experience learning at the campus.  Students and parents were invited into classrooms to participate in science experiments and other academic challenges.  We hope our families enjoyed both sessions and have a better insight into secondary life at the Madinat Khalifa campus.

Also last week, we had a visit from the College of the North Atlantic - Qatar.  Trainee dental hygienists engaged our Year 1 and Year 4 students in activities which focused on dental hygiene.  Children had a great time finding out more about the structure of a tooth and why it is important to clean teeth and gums twice daily and why flossing is an important daily ritual.  We look forward to welcoming the team back to the school in term 2.

Thursday’s assembly was led by Year 5B who told us the story of Aladdin which was linked to their recent literacy learning.  The audience was enraptured by the acting skills of the children.  We were also treated to songs delivered by a girl band in glittery dresses.  Well done to the Year 5B team led by Mr Dart.

We are proud to announce further sporting successes as our Year 3 boys’ football team brought home a gold medal on Tuesday with Year 4 boys finishing in fifth place.  Both girls’ football teams came in seventh place on Thursday.  Well done to all our footballers, we look forward to further successes in the future.

On Wednesday, we hosted a thank you breakfast for our Friends of Compass School (FCS) team who recently organised the school’s International Breakfast.  It was wonderful to catch up with the team and thank parents individually for supporting the school.

Thank you to all parents who continue to support our school by ensuring children are lined up on the playground at 7.15am.  The school has now initiated a golden ticket lucky draw for all the children who continually arrive on time and are lined up at 7.15am.  The first draw will take place in December.

Have a wonderful week.
