Assistant Head Teacher and Year 3 Teacher

I qualified as a teacher in 1993 and started work inSt Mary’s Junior school in South London. From there I moved to Kuala Lumpur where I worked at Garden International School as Head of Key Stage 2. Three years later I moved to Doha and started working at Doha College. Throughout my ten years there I worked in all classes and with all teams. Throughout my teaching career I have led and developed most subjects but I am particularly passionate about English and science.

Having worked in schools that mainly teach through the National Curriculum for England and Wales, I made the decision to investigate other curriculums. I was very interested in The IPC programme and was delighted to learn that Compass International school deliver this curriculum. Luckily, I was offered a post at CIS and am now looking forward to learning and teaching the children of CIS Gharaffa.

I love to travel and am lucky enough that my job allows me to do that. Originally I come from Northern Ireland but studied in Wales and from there moved to London where I met and married my husband. We then travelled to Malaysia and 3 years later our son, Kieran, was born. Next we moved to Doha, thinking it would be easier to travel back to the UK with a baby. Kieran was soon joined by a baby sister, Kayla. The people of Doha made us all feel so welcome that we have stayed here ever since. We love that we get to meet with so many different nationalities and learn a little more about places around the world. (It also means that we now have many different places that we can stay with friends!) Kieran and Kayla have joined me at CIS Gharrafa and we have been overwhelmed by the friendliness of the CIS community.
