Dr John Warren

Dr John Warren

Biology Teacher, Head of Year 9, Duke of Edinburgh International Award Coordinator

Dr Warren is from Dorset in England and has lived in Qatar since 2007.  Prior to arriving in Qatar, he lived and worked in Dubai and Hong Kong. He is married with 2 children who were both born in Qatar, and has 6 cats.

Dr Warren is a relatively late convert to the teaching profession having worked as a veterinary surgeon and banker before completing his PGCE.  He read veterinary medicine at Cambridge University where he was also a choral scholar, played lacrosse for the University and was an Officer in the University Officers Training Corps. 

Prior to University, Dr Warren attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and was commissioned into the Royal Engineers serving in Hong Kong and Nepal with the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers.  He taught at Sherborne Qatar before being appointed Head of Year at Compass International School, Doha.  He specialises in teaching Biology and runs the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award scheme at Compass.

In his spare time, Dr Warren enjoys singing, acting, and playing sport.  He is a leader with the 1st Doha Olympic Cub Pack and until recently was the Chairman of Doha Singers and Secretary of Doha Hockey Club.  He performed in the Doha Players productions of Les Miserables in 2014 and alongside his children in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in 2016.
