Since graduating in 2009 I have been teaching English Language and Literature in a co-educational setting within the Irish Educational System, working with students aged 12-19. I have also completed my Postgraduate studies in Specific Learning Difficulties and Inclusion, with the aim of reaching and teaching every student I encounter. My teaching experience ranges from Junior to Senior cycle and as Head of Department, guiding students to become motivated, active participants in their own learning.
Amelia Earheart once said ‘Adventure is worthwhile in itself.’ I enjoy challenging myself both personally and professionally and look at this new chapter of my life in Doha with my husband, Dermot as one of our greatest adventures yet. I am passionate and enthusiastic about my subject area and delving into school life in Compass International.
My sense of wanderlust has taken me across the world on my travels, I hope to encounter many new cultural experiences during my time in the Middle East. I love the world of theatre, film and books. I also regularly practice yoga and volunteer in various capacities in my local community. I have incorporated such personal interests into a variety of extracurricular activities during my career such as; YSI or Young Social Innovators. YSI aims to drive social innovation in the school and wider communities, encouraging students to ‘Be the change you want to see in the world.’ Is there a greater challenge as an educator?
