I have been involved in coaching and teaching children in a variety of sports for around 10 years. My sporting passions are Golf, which I have played for many years both competitively and socially, gaining a British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) cap in 2011. My current handicap is 1. In addition to this, I have played Football for over 15 years at both local club and university level in Scotland.
My interest in teaching has been especially influenced and impacted by my 4 summers working at a summer camp in America. Camp Caribou, situated on a beautiful peninsula in the state of Maine, is a sports summer camp, offering boys aged 7-17 over 20 sports across 7 weeks. During my time there I was a bunk counsellor, football instructor, golf instructor and fitness instructor. I have only fond memories of my time at camp, especially because of the friendships created and maintained with my fellow counsellors and children who have grown up to become counsellors all around the world and have even entered the teaching profession themselves.
I am very excited to be starting at Compass International School in Doha, working with a great team in the PE department and staff across the wider school. I hope that I can ignite a passion for sport in the young children we have here and help them to further develop personal skills and their sporting interests, allowing them to go into the wider world well rounded and active individuals.
