Ann Bowen Lerche

Ann Lerche

Primary Music Teacher

I have over 30 years’ experience teaching music at primary level in a wide variety of different schools ranging from the inner city to the outer suburbs of London and Edinburgh as well as in the rural communities od Aberdeenshire and Angus.

Music has been a dominant focus for me since early childhood raised in a musical Welsh community. Memories from school and university are filled with choir rehearsals, concert performances, school productions and competing around Wales. During these years I also established myself as a solo performer winning numerous awards nationally, also performing with my twin sister and forming a folk group. I feel so lucky to have been given so much opportunity to perform. These formative years have influenced my vision of primary music in that participating and giving opportunities is very important.

A window of opportunity has finally enabled me to teach overseas with the full support of my family.

I consider myself to be a bubbly and welcoming individual who likes to keep busy whether gardening, composing, baking or just walking the dog. I am an enthusiastic walker and loved a recent 10 day trek in the Sahara….the next challenge on the list is Peru, also the Welsh communities of Patagonia.  I sing with 2 choirs back in Stonehaven and every August make my way to the national Eisteddfod in Wales. I’m also a huge Wales rugby supporter (and Scotland!).

I have been happily married to James for 35 years, he is a trained chef and hotelier who works as a troubleshooting consultant. We have 2 sons, Alex the eldest is a journalist in Glasgow and Will is studying Animation at Dundee. We all adore and spoil our spaniel Megan. As a family we try to arrange a yearly ski holiday.
