I first graduated from Bangor University with a BA (Hons) in English Language and Creative Writing in 2012 and returned in 2014 to complete my PGCE in Primary Education.
I have spent five years teaching Nursery and Year 1 children in both Abu Dhabi and Qatar. These experiences have given me a breadth of knowledge of the fundamental life long-learning goals and the range of skills that young children can achieve daily if offered the correct support and encouragement.
My passion for English, literature and Performing Arts in particular, has shone through into my teaching and I have led Phonics and Literacy throughout Key Stage One and Foundation Stage. I am enthusiastic and confident that through the use of performance, I am able to develop both the communication and literacy skills of those I teach. It is vital for the children to have ownership of their learning through ‘child-led’ initiatives and it is evident that this creates opportunities for the children, as individuals, to deepen their understanding and further investigate their preferred areas of interest.
My love for baking originated in North Wales with my Grandmother. These endless memories have allowed me to adopt the reputation of ‘baker’ wherever I travel. Finally, I have an adventurous nature, which has empowered me to travel around the world, opening the doors to new experiences and opportunities, thus, encouraging me to fully embrace the cultures and diversities of my new found surroundings.
