I am an extremely passionate PE teacher that has been teaching for 19 years. I have been in the UAE for 12 of them. I have taught in Malawi, UK and in Dubai at Rashid School for Boys, Horizon English School and Hartland International. It is with great pleasure that I will be starting my fourth year at NAS Dubai in January.
As Director of Sport and Head of Primary PE at NAS Dubai I am amazed at what we have achieved in such a short period of time. We have an amazing PE department who always give above and beyond expectations and I am proud to be part of a school that has established itself as one of the top schools for sport in the UAE.
My extensive leadership experience encompasses a wide range of responsibilities and challenges including Head of Year, Head of Secondary PE, Head of Primary PE, Housemaster and Senior Leader. In my past schools I have been informed that I run outstanding, well-organised, forward thinking, supportive and happy departments where students feel safe and excited to learn. I am a leader who has a proven track record of improving results and my flexible, enthusiastic and positive nature means that I both embrace and thoroughly enjoy challenges. The skill set that I have developed in building successful departments will be fundamental as we continue to build a school that is outstanding.
I pride myself on my ability to connect with students, staff and parents in and out of the classroom or lesson. I see myself as more than just their teacher. I serve as a role model, a mentor and a guide through life’s ups and downs whether it is about school or home. I am dedicated to the goal of realizing the potential of every pupil, teacher and support staff that I work with. Positive feedback and encouragement are of the utmost importance in my teaching and I provide a caring atmosphere where everyone feels valued and secure. I strive to encourage a sense of responsibility and self-discipline within each pupil, so that a solid platform for good collective class discipline can be created which in turn leads to an atmosphere conducive to successful learning.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching and love students enjoying the lessons I lead. My teaching Philosophy is learning through happiness and fun and I believe it is incredibly important to give students the opportunity to enjoy sport from an early age and encourage lifelong skills. This includes knowledge of how to be healthy and enthusiasm to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Your child’s welfare, happiness and education are of the utmost importance. I want the children to be happy, safe and to maximize their learning in an exciting and stimulating environment.
I am truly humbled to be working in such a wonderful school with outstanding practitioners and amazing students.
