primary teacher helping year 3 students in maths class

Kayleigh Pugh

After growing up in a small village in Wales, travel has definitely broadened my mind! It has opened my eyes to a variety of cultures which I love learning more about.

Since I left the UK in 2012, I have been lucky enough to explore some wonderful places in Asia and the Middle East, which I only ever dreamed of visiting as a child.

Before joining NAS Dubai in September 2015, I worked at The British School of Beijing, Shunyi campus for three years as the Year 2 Team Leader alongside an enthusiastic team of five teachers. My focus for the team at BSB was always to create a stimulating learning environment for the children to encourage them to embrace their creative thinking as well as to take risks in their learning. China was a fantastic opportunity for me to meet some inspiring young individuals who worked incredibly hard and were an absolute joy to teach.

I attended a village primary school in Wales and learnt all subjects through the medium of Welsh. I then continued my further education at The University of Wales, Aberystwyth where I studied Business and Management for my undergraduate degree. I completed my PGCE training at the same university whilst working in small community schools in Wales. I am passionate about teaching and I pride myself in making sure that every child is given an equal opportunity to succeed in whatever they want to do.

Personally, I have a keen interest in art and design, as well as creative writing. You can normally find me bouncing around school, full of energy, ready to inspire children with my enthusiasm for learning.
