primary teacher helping year 3 students in maths class

Helen Hamilton

I am thrilled to be joining the fantastic team at NAS Dubai and more specifically Year 4. I look forward to getting to know all members of the school community and working hard with my new class.

In 2000 I graduated from University of Dundee with an honours degree in Psychology and then I completed my PGCE (Educational Psychology option) at Stranmillis College, Belfast. During my teaching practice I was placed in a local primary school, near to my home, and I was delighted to be offered a teaching post after graduation. Initially I taught Primary 6 (Year 5) for two years before moving to Primary 7 (Year 6). I remained at that school until 2017 when I fulfilled a career ambition of teaching internationally with a move to the British School of Beijing, Sanlitun. There I taught Year 5 for two years and held the roles of Learning Support Coordinator and PSHE Curriculum Leader.

My passion lies in the pastoral area of school. I know that happy and content children are those who achieve most in school and the wellbeing of each child is my top priority. I love to see children blossom in confidence and to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

I have been a coach with both a FOBISIA and Nord Anglia Games team and enjoyed watching the teams achieve their dreams of success through hard work, determination and superb teamwork. I always love being involved in afterschool activities and look forward to offering different opportunities in NAS Dubai.

I am moving to Dubai with my husband, Mark and two daughters, Bella and Poppy. The girls will be attending NAS Dubai in Year 4 and Year 3 respectively. We love to go to the cinema, support Irish Rugby, watch (and in my husband’s case, play) cricket and generally work hard and play hard.

We were fortunate enough to spend a holiday in Dubai last summer, so we feel we have just touched on all that this wonderful city has to offer and are delighted to have the opportunity to explore it further.
